Exclusive Bespoke Collection, WOW!house 2025, Design Centre Chelsea Harbour

Samuel Heath and Laura Hammett unveil an Art Deco-inspired bathroom sanctuary at WOW!house 2025, held at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, showcasing bespoke brassware in a striking new Vintage Bronze finish.

Now in its fourth edition, WOW!house is increasingly recognised as a cornerstone of the design calendar or, as interior designer Tim Gosling describes it, "the Oscars of the design world." Running from 3 June to 3 July 2025, this immersive showcase transforms the Design Centre into a series of full-scale rooms, each conceived by leading studios collaborating with high-end brands and artisans.

The event offers a journey through curated interiors exemplifying creativity, technical mastery, and aesthetic vision, with proceeds benefiting United in Design, the nonprofit championing equity in interior design.

Framed by a Georgian townhouse façade by Adam Architecture, this year’s standout space is the Art Deco-inspired bathroom by Laura Hammett Interiors in collaboration with Samuel Heath, marking the culmination of their 15-year creative partnership.

At the heart of this collaboration is a bespoke brassware collection, conceived by Aaron Hammett and handcrafted in Samuel Heath’s historic 19th century factory in Birmingham. The first piece in the collection - a basin tap – served not merely as a feature, but as the genesis of the entire design language for the WOW!house room. As Aaron explains, “We’re really enhancing each of the materials together, creating a beautiful backdrop for this new tap.”

Rooted in a shared reverence for Art Deco architecture and 1920s glamour, the design process behind the basin tap was exceptionally thorough. True to Samuel Heath’s design philosophy, Senior Project Design Engineer Cameron Danks collaborated with Aaron Hammett to ensure every curve, line, and surface was carefully considered - not only for visual harmony, but also for how it feels in the hand. “We began the process by referring to our historical design archives, followed by a highly detailed prototyping phase. Throughout development, we systematically evaluated the design across all parameters - including visual balance, dimensional proportions, tactile qualities, and overall functional performance,” Cameron explains.

After months of development, the final basin taps, bath & shower mixer and concealed shower fixtures blend classical proportions with contemporary profiles. Stepped detailing, chamfered edges, and dramatic lines define their architectural forms. Laura notes they “were the catalyst for the entire scheme - bold, sculptural pieces that set the tone for the geometry, palette, and sense of indulgence running throughout the room.”

A new, exclusive finish was developed to complement the individuality of the brassware and was meticulously hand-applied at the manufacturer’s heritage site. Vintage Bronze features a rich, chocolatey base, gently hand-burnished along each edge to reveal subtle brass highlights. The characterful effect unfolds through light and touch - a testament to Samuel Heath’s dedication to detail. “We worked closely with Samuel Heath at their factory to develop Vintage Bronze,” say the Hammetts, describing a finish that “feels beautifully lived-in” and exquisitely highlights every rivet. “True luxury lies in the smallest details and reveals itself through closer inspection.”

The WOW!house bathroom itself is envisioned as a lavish sanctuary. “Our bathroom envelops you in a reimagined 1920s aesthetic elevated by our signature contemporary and luxurious style,” the Hammetts explain. “It’s rendered in lush jewel tones, emphasizing geometric silhouettes and motifs celebrating the centenary of the Art Deco movement.”

The new Vintage Bronze finish inspired the wider room design, shaping the choice of materials and colour palette. “It’s about creating a cohesive atmosphere where every surface, from marble to lighting, resonates with that depth and richness,” Laura explains.

Their approach echoes the precision and thoughtfulness Samuel Heath has championed for over 200 years. Crafted in the brand’s Birmingham factory, each piece undergoes numerous checks and refinements to ensure the final product is as enduring as it is beautiful. “Like jewellery, the hardware sculpturally punctuates the space,” says Laura. The room’s bold geometric motifs echo the tap’s architectural lines, reinforcing a dialogue between material and form. “It nods to the vintage glamour of the 1920s while feeling utterly relevant today.”

Walls are divided into geometrically clad zones with bespoke joinery by Ashton Bespoke, adorned with sumptuous Verde Guatemala marble from Ca’ Pietra Artisans and panels of distressed gold Églomisé mirror by Stuart Fox. This layering creates a golden glow throughout the space, punctuated by bold flashes of green. The marble vanity, designed by Laura Hammett, was expertly fabricated by Ashton Bespoke in golden-veined Calacatta Vagli Oro marble. Complementing it is a monolithic Roll Top Bath from Lapicida, carved from a single block of Veined San Marino Marble and seamlessly coordinated with the vanity. Weighing 500kg, the bath was carefully installed by a six-person team, with InteriorLab overseeing the complex substructure and ensuring exceptional craftsmanship.

Handblown light fittings were curated to enhance the layered materials and architectural elements. These include the graceful Barrington Pendant Light, with voluminous, dramatic curves, and the Ruben Wall Lights by Laura Hammett Living, alongside discreet architectural spotlights and bronze-finished floor uplights. Additional bespoke touches include cornice detailing by London Plastercraft and ‘Sovereign’, an original artwork by Terrell James, adding expressive richness above the bath.

The interior invites tactile engagement and rewards close inspection. “Pushing the boundaries of bathroom design, the idea is to evoke a sense of excitement, indulgence, and hedonism, while also embracing modern innovation, traditional craftsmanship and the beauty of natural materials,” note the Hammetts.

More than a display of visual beauty, the WOW!house bathroom celebrates shared values: commitment to quality, reverence for tradition, and an eye toward the future. “Samuel Heath’s heritage and dedication to British handiwork align perfectly with our vision,” says Laura. “Our special brassware collaborative line ties all the other elements together, capturing the architectural boldness and ornamental flair of Deco through a marriage of engineering and artistry.”

Whether drawn to the sculptural elegance of the brassware, the opulent layering of materials, or the timeless sense of glamour, the space invites exploration and admiration for the craft and intention behind it. Beyond the interiors, visitors experience a culmination of passion, expertise, and a collaboration honed over decades. In this sense, the Samuel Heath x Laura Hammett room captures the very essence of what WOW!house stands for.
