Applications

Concealed door closers suit a wide range of settings. This page covers six of them: high-rise apartments, mental health settings, social housing, hotels, commercial developments, and heritage and listed buildings. Each has its own demands, from fire safety and anti-ligature design to acoustics, appearance and the constraints of a period interior.

Apartments

High-rise flats & apartments

Our concealed closers suit high-rise apartments throughout. They work particularly well on apartment entrance doors thanks to their fire performance and accessibility credentials. Hidden when the door is closed, they keep interiors homely, not institutional, with less vandalism and lower maintenance cost.

Mental health settings

Mental Health Facilities

Clinicians, health estate managers and designers regularly choose PERKO POWER™ for mental health settings. Installed neatly between door and frame, it is totally concealed when the door is closed, a good fit where anti-ligature and anti-barricade measures matter. Concealment reduces risk, improves hygiene and aids patient safety. Interiors feel less institutional, more therapeutic, which in turn supports better patient outcomes.

Social housing

Social housing

For its safety, reliability and low maintenance, PERKO POWER™ is the choice of local authorities and housing associations. Hidden when the door is closed and barely visible when open, it gives little opportunity for vandalism. This really matters: a damaged closer can stop the door itself working, and a failed fire door is potentially fatal. Because the closer body is concealed within the door leaf, it also helps where space is at a premium, enabling a better opening angle for the door. Fewer maintenance call-outs keep costs down, and with no visible arms or boxes, interiors feel less institutional.

Hotels

Hotels

Comfort matters in hotels, and the visible arms and boxes of conventional door closers undo the welcoming feel interiors work hard to create. Concealed when the door is closed, PERKO POWER™ keeps interiors clean, in a choice of finishes to suit the design. It works well in restricted spaces such as 90-degree reveals, maintains acoustic separation between rooms, is easy to clean and built for constant daily use.

Commercial

Commercial

PERKO POWER™ is widely specified in commercial office and retail spaces, high-end developments included. It is chosen above all for its performance and reliability, whilst giving designers real freedom. Totally concealed when the door is closed, it leaves no unsightly control arms or mechanical boxes to interrupt the scheme. It also suits raised floors, common in commercial settings, where floor springs can be difficult to fit.

Heritage

Heritage and listed buildings

Concealment lets modern fire safety sit within a period interior without altering its appearance. Fitted inside the door and frame, the PERKO POWER™ closer is unobtrusive and relies only on the frame, not the building’s structure. Importantly, conventional overhead closers cannot serve arched doorways, common in heritage buildings, and the floor springs they pair with can require floorwork that damages a heritage site and is rarely permitted.
