Set high in Pacific Heights, the 2025 San Francisco Decorator Showcase unfolds inside a storied Tudor Revival mansion – one with a complex past and a striking present.
Originally designed in 1902 by architect Thomas Paterson Ross as a multi-family residence, the home has undergone more than a century of transformation, including a 2009 reinvention that replaced its English exterior with a classically inspired French limestone façade. Though much of the Tudor detailing remains reimagined within, the five-level, 9,400 sq. ft. property now serves as a grand canvas for the city’s most inspired interior and landscape designers.
Now in its 46th year, the Showcase brings together top designers to reimagine iconic spaces while raising funds for San Francisco University High School’s financial aid program. This year, 19 design firms brought bold new life to the home’s eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and sweeping rooftop terraces. From Geoffrey De Sousa’s softly sculpted living room to Kelly Hohla’s misty blue 'Marine Layers' family room, each space plays with form, palette, and story. But it’s in Nash Design Group’s guest ensuite, poetically titled 'The Global Nest', where intimate storytelling meets immersive sanctuary.
Designed by founder Kendra Nash, The Global Nest is a soulful tribute to global discovery and personal transformation. Inspired by a journey through Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico, the bedroom is wrapped in a deep oxblood tone evocative of a Mexican sunset. Limewash walls, richly hued and textural, form a cocoon around curated furniture, alive with natural pattern, and wall décor that celebrates craftsmanship and cultural nuance. From custom bed accents to irresistibly tactile furnishings, every detail nods to lived experience and collected memory.
“This space means a lot to me,” shares Nash. “It’s inspired by a life-changing trip that shifted how I see design, art, and the world around me. We layered in a sunbaked palette, rich textures, and natural forms to create a space that feels like a real retreat - one that feels lived in, loved, and full of story.”
In the connecting ensuite, Samuel Heath’s Classic Forme Basin Filler offers a quiet yet confident focal point beneath an abstract mirror. Positioned atop a woven wicker and polished marble vanity, its elegant lines and playful cross top controls subtly reference the ensuite’s Art Deco influences. The soft, tactile sheen of its Brushed Gold Matt finish continues the bedroom’s palette of golden warmth. Beside the vanity, a concealed shower with matching controls peeks out from behind a vintage-style curtain, adding cohesive structure to the space’s layered textures and organic forms.
Together, Nash Design Group’s narrative design and Samuel Heath’s precision-engineered brassware create a guest ensuite that feels both intimate and worldly - a personal sanctuary infused with story, spirit, and elegance.
