PERKO POWER™ is ideal for fire door applications in commercial, leisure, public and domestic situations.
Q: What is the maximum weight of door the PERKO POWER™ can be used on?
A: 175 lbs.
Q: What is the maximum width of door the PERKO POWER™ can be used on?
A: We recommend the maximum width of door the closer is to be used on is 38 inches.
Q: Can the PERKO POWER™ be used on fire doors?
A: Yes, the closer is UL listed and fire rated for 45 minutes on wood doors and 3 hours on metal doors.
Q: Can PERKO POWER™ be used with concealed hinges such as Soss?
A: Yes, however this does reduce the closing force of the closer (by 40%).
Q: Can PERKO POWER™ be used on external doors?
A: Yes, however this decision should be made on site as to whether this is sufficient given the prevailing conditions
Q: Can PERKO POWER™ be used on double-action doors?
A: No. The geometry of a pivoting door differs from a hinged single-action door and is such that the closer would not function properly.
Q: Is intumescent required?
A: Yes. Our fitting instructions state that the closer and plates should be bedded in Alfacryl FR Intumescent Acrylic Mastic, which is available from Samuel Heath (see price list).
Q: Is installation complicated?
A: No. With our detailed fitting instructions and mortising tool also available (see price list) installation is straightforward.
Q: Does the PERKO POWER™ have a hold open feature?
A: Although the closer does not have a hold open feature turning down the fully adjustable closing speed on the R102 completely shall allow the door to stay open.
Q: Can the closing speed adjuster screw fall out if completely unwound? This can happen with many standard overhead closers.
A: No. The adjuster screw is retained within the hydraulic unit and cannot work loose.
Q: Do the opening forces comply with ADA (American Disability Act)?
A: Yes. The PERKO POWER™ is ADA compliant when the latching action is turned totally to minus.
Q: Can it open to 180 degrees?
A: We have tested the closer to a maximum opening angle of 105 degrees.
Q: What kind of door can the PERKO POWER™ be used on?
A: The closer can be used on a wide range of doors including wood, steel and glass doors.
Q: Can the closer installation be reversed?
A: Yes. The closer can be installed in to the jamb however remember to reverse the fitting instructions included in the box.
Q: Does it benefit to install more than one PERKO POWER™ on a door?
A: We do not recommend more than one closer be installed per door as long term this shall lead to adjustment being required to keep the closers synchronized.
Q: What is the minimum thickness of door the PERKO POWER™ can be fitted on?
A: On doors 1 ½ inches and above.
Q: Is the PERKO POWER™ warranted?
A: Yes the closer is guaranteed for 10 years from manufacturing defects or 500,000 cycles as tested by ANSI 156.4
Q: How quickly is the PERKO POWER™ available?
A: The closers are available from stock and ship by our Fed-Ex next day air shipping.
Q: Can the PERKO POWER™ be installed anywhere on the door?
A: Yes, however on a fire door the closer must be installed within 30 inches of the base of the door and within 12 inches of a hinge.
