Luxury yachts and minimalist design inspires stunning penthouse property

This penthouse property hadn’t been touched for 45 years, presenting quite a challenge for its designer.

Quinton Gilbertson, director at Cubic Studios who was commissioned to re-design the property, wanted to turn the penthouse into a contemporary home, with spacious rooms and a relaxing, luxurious atmosphere, using a stunning design and careful planning.

To create a minimalist yet luxurious feel, the spacious bathrooms were designed using Samuel Heath’s Xenon collection. Inspired by boat decking on luxury yachts, the bathrooms feature a timber decking-styled ledge that supports a solid stainless steel bowl basin with Xenon wall mounted basin mixer, bringing a nautical theme that is both unusual and superbly contemporary.

Carefully concealed at the back of the room, the Xenon concealed thermostatic shower is used to create a luxurious space for private showering which blends seamlessly into its tile surrounds and complements the black rubber of the main floor.

For Quinton, good quality brassware is essential in any bathroom as these items are used every day. Quinton wanted each room to be minimalist in terms of space, which meant the design of the brassware would be a central feature in each room. Quinton comments: “I wanted a contemporary, minimalist style that also offered something a bit different, so I chose English manufacturer Samuel Heath. I was first introduced to the company at 100% Design in London and not only do they produce high quality brassware that would perform and endure, but their Xenon collection, which was available in a brushed chrome finish, was the ideal accompaniment to what I had envisioned for the property.”
